EatFit

EatFit is a goal-oriented education intervention designed to challenge middle school students to improve their eating and fitness choices. This program uses computer technology to assist with diet assessment and "guided" goal setting for making healthy lifestyle choices. The program provides skill building experiences and social support to help students reach their goals.

EatFit is currently under revision. It's expected to be available for outside sale through ANR publications in 2009.

WalkFit

WalkFit was designed to promote physical activity in adolescents using
social cognitive theory. All students receive an interactive magazine style
workbook and a step counter to track daily steps. In tandem with a focus on increasing physical activity, each lesson addresses California's education standards for mathematics and physical education. Step counters (sometimes called pedometers) are used to encourage an increase in the mean daily step count. The 6 lesson program is aligned with CA content standards for mathematics and physical education for grade six.

Reading Across MyPyramid

A nutrition education curriculum for Kindergarten through 3rd grade youth created by UCCE and DANR to help young children learn about food through popular storybooks. Included are eleven lessons containing multiple activities. Young children learn about food from fruits to vegetables to dairy to pizza! Also included are parent letters in both English and Spanish, as well as food safety tips, life skills, and much more!

Eating Healthy from Farm to Fork...Promoting School Wellness, Kindergarten Curriculum is a nutrition education curriculum that makes the connection between local food systems, garden-based learning, school food service, and the establishment of healthy habits.  These comprehensive materials integrate nutrition education into grade-appropriate lessons that are specifically designed around the Nutrition Competencies for California Children and directly correlated to the core subjects of the California Content Standards. Experiential in nature, the lessons actively engage the children in learning about healthy choices for food and fitness.  The materials support the development of a positive school wellness environment that recognizes the relationship between health and nutrition and academic achievement and school success.  Each lesson includes lesson introduction, objectives, nutrition competencies, teacher background information, two activities, making the connection, recipe activity, review, and parent letter.

Happy Healthy Me...Moving, Munching & Reading Across MyPyramid for 4 to 6-Years Old is a nutrition and literacy curriculum designed to provide young children with an introduction to nutrition. Children form lifetime dietary habits at a very young age. Early introduction of nutrition education can help them develop positive and healthful attitudes about food, physical activity and overall health. This curriculum includes the Desired Results for Preschoolers. Each lesson includes a corresponding book, objectives, nutrition activities, physical activities and other supplemental activities.

Nutrition To Grow On is an innovative curriculum for grades four through six that offers teachers a direct link between the garden and nutrition education. The curriculum uses the garden to integrate disciplines, including science, mathematics, language arts, history, environmental studies, nutrition, and health. This approach enriches students' capacities for observation and thinking and encourages them to develop a wide range of skills. The lessons also reinforce some of the state's academic content standards.
